Treating neck pain, upper back tension, poor posture and the accumulated stress that comes with long hours at a screen — for clients across New Malden and South West London.
Desk Work & Your Body
If you spend most of your working day at a desk, the chances are your body is paying for it. Neck pain, tight shoulders, a stiff upper back, lower back ache, headaches — these are not just the price of a desk job. They're signals that your muscles are under sustained load and need attention.
Sitting for long periods — particularly with poor posture or an awkward screen setup — creates specific patterns of tension and muscle imbalance that don't simply go away with rest. In fact, the longer they're left, the worse they tend to get.
Nick has over 13 years of experience treating office workers, professionals and remote workers. During his time with Perfect London Massage, he delivered on-site corporate treatments at some of London's leading companies — including Google — so he understands exactly what desk work does to the body.
Book a SessionCommon Complaints
When you sit at a screen for hours, certain muscles shorten and tighten while others weaken. Over time this creates imbalance, poor posture becomes the default, and pain follows.
Stiff, aching neck and tight upper trapezius muscles — one of the most common complaints from people who work at a screen.
Tension between the shoulder blades from hours of hunching forward. Often feels like a constant dull ache that never fully goes away.
Tight hip flexors and lower back pain from prolonged sitting — particularly common in people who commute and then sit at a desk all day.
Headaches that originate from the neck and shoulders — a direct result of the tension that builds up from desk work and screen time.
Rounded shoulders, forward head position and anterior pelvic tilt — postural issues that cause discomfort during and after work.
The feeling of carrying the day in your body — that accumulated stress and tightness that doesn't lift no matter how much you rest.

How Often Should You Book?
For active tension and pain, starting with 2 to 3 sessions close together produces the fastest results. For ongoing maintenance — keeping the body in good condition and preventing the tension from rebuilding — a monthly or fortnightly session works well for most desk workers.
The 90-minute session is recommended for desk workers as it allows thorough work across the neck, upper back, lower back and hips in a single appointment.
