Clinical assessment and targeted soft tissue treatment for chronic pain, postural dysfunction and problems that haven't responded to standard massage. Private practice at Beverley Road, New Malden KT3 4AW. 64 five-star reviews.
Remedial massage is a step beyond sports massage and deep tissue massage. Where those approaches address the immediate tissue, remedial massage uses a structured clinical assessment to identify the root cause of pain or dysfunction — then applies a targeted combination of techniques to resolve it systematically.
Working from his private practice on Beverley Road, New Malden (KT3 4AW), Nick assesses your posture, movement patterns and muscle function before any treatment begins. This assessment is what separates remedial work from standard massage — it is not assumed where the problem is, it is found.
Remedial massage is particularly effective when pain has become chronic, when the same problem keeps returning, or when multiple contributing factors are involved. If you have been told "nothing's wrong" but you are still in pain, this is often the approach that finds the answer.

Remedial massage is for people with specific, persistent or complex problems that need more than general treatment.
Pain that has been present for weeks, months or years. Remedial massage identifies the maintaining factors — the things keeping it going — and addresses them systematically rather than treating only the symptom.
Forward head posture, rounded shoulders, anterior pelvic tilt: patterns that create predictable pain and are treated most effectively at the source of the imbalance, not at the site of pain.
Sciatica, carpal tunnel and thoracic outlet syndrome — conditions involving nerve tension or compression — often respond very well to targeted soft tissue work on the surrounding structures.
After the acute phase resolves, remedial massage addresses the compensatory patterns that develop in surrounding muscles and speeds a full functional recovery.
Pain from repetitive work tasks, sustained postures or physically demanding jobs — whether desk based or manual labour. Remedial massage addresses the structural patterns driving the pain.
If the same issue keeps coming back, there is an underlying reason that standard massage hasn't reached. Remedial massage identifies and breaks that cycle for lasting results.

Remedial massage draws on a broader clinical toolkit than standard sports massage. Before any technique is applied, Nick assesses posture, movement range and muscle function — identifying which structures are overactive, which are inhibited, and where restrictions in the connective tissue are maintaining the problem.
Treatment is then built from that assessment, combining the techniques most appropriate for your specific pattern. No two sessions are built the same way.

"Nick is extremely friendly which helped ensure I was completely relaxed during our sessions. He delivers them with professionalism, answers any questions I have, and always provides advice for my wellbeing, which I have appreciated hugely."
Nick Monczakowski holds a BTEC Level 5 in Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy — the highest vocational qualification in this field. He has been practising remedial and sports massage in New Malden for over 13 years, with a clinical background that includes Nuffield Health (New Malden & Epsom), Perfect London Massage (including Google HQ), Ewell Chiropractic and The Ned, a 5-star hotel in the City of London.
Remedial massage is the most clinical of the three main treatment approaches Nick offers. For muscle recovery and injury treatment, sports massage is often the right starting point. For chronic, deep-seated tension, deep tissue massage may be more appropriate. Nick can advise which approach is right for you after an initial assessment.
