Targeting the deeper structures, working through muscle, connective tissue and fascia, to release chronic tension, restore movement and resolve persistent pain. Deep tissue massage targets the deeper structures of the body: the muscle bellies, connective tissue and fascia that sit beneath the surface. These are the layers where long term tension accumulates, where old injuries leave their mark, and where the root causes of chronic pain are usually found.
Nick is certified in Brandon Raynor Deep Tissue Massage, a specific method that works systematically through the body's layers to release deep-seated tension rather than just working the surface muscles. He has been delivering hands on deep tissue treatment from his private practice on Beverley Road, New Malden (KT3 4AW) for over 13 years.
Deep tissue is not the same as a harder sports massage. It uses slower, more sustained pressure to work through layers of tissue, particularly effective for chronic tension, old injury recovery, restricted movement and postural problems that haven't responded to lighter treatment. If you are unsure whether sports massage or deep tissue is the right choice, Nick can advise after a brief initial assessment.

Long standing pain that hasn't responded to lighter treatment. Deep tissue work reaches the structures that surface techniques can't. Often the right choice when desk work or driving has created deep, accumulated tension.
Persistent tightness and restricted range of motion, often caused by scar tissue, fascial adhesions or long term postural habits that lighter work hasn't shifted.
Headaches driven by neck and upper back tightness. Deep tissue work on the cervical muscles and upper trapezius can provide significant and lasting relief.
Rounded shoulders, anterior pelvic tilt and forward head posture, caused by long term muscle imbalance. Deep tissue addresses the underlying tissue rather than just stretching the surface.
Scar tissue from old injuries affecting movement and comfort over time. Deep tissue work breaks down adhesions and restores tissue quality in ways that rest alone cannot.
For runners and active people managing high training load. Deep tissue between sessions helps tissue recover more completely, reducing injury risk and improving performance over time.
Also treating: golfer's elbow, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, driver stiffness, stress-related tension, and more.

Every session begins with a proper assessment: understanding your history, where the tension is, what's driving it, and what outcome you're working towards. Treatment is then applied specifically to those areas, working through the tissue layers at the right depth for your body.
Deep tissue work can feel intense in areas of significant tension, but pressure is always adjusted to your comfort. It should never be unbearable. Most people experience mild soreness for 24 to 48 hours after treatment, similar to post-exercise soreness. This is normal and fades quickly. Most clients notice meaningful improvement from session one.
